Reequal Smith
Founder and Artistic Director of Oshun Dance Studios, Reequal Smith is a multidisciplinary artist from The Bahamas, now based in Charlottetown, PEI. A graduate of Holland College’s School of Performing Arts with a focus in Dance Performance and holder of a BA in Marketing, she has built a dynamic career as a dancer, fire performer, choreographer, and educator, with over eight years of professional experience in The Bahamas and three seasons with the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival.
Her artistic contributions span festivals, community events, and media, including music videos and documentaries. Notable works include her solo performances Unfold (2023) and Caribbean Flamingo (2024). Since joining the River Clyde Pageant in 2019 as a volunteer dancer, Reequal has grown into the role of lead choreographer, where she has spent the past three years creating expressive outdoor performances and fostering community connections.
Reequal is Program and Events Coordinator for the Black Cultural Society of PEI, a board member for Kinetic Studio, The Fringe Festival, and Fusion Charlottetown, and was a former Volunteer Coordinator for Art in the Open. Passionate about blending her Bahamian roots with innovative storytelling, she brings vibrant, cultural artistry to PEI and beyond.
