We've Found Our New Home Base!

The River Clyde Arts team with Janet and Ian, standing on the land that will be home for the next ten years.

After a lengthy search, River Clyde Arts has found a long-term home base in the heart of New Glasgow, PEI — and we couldn't be more grateful to the community that helped us get here.

When we launched our Finding Our New Home campaign last year, so many of you showed up with advice, connections, and encouragement. Our moment of uncertainty turned into a moment of feeling the community behind us, committed to the future of the Pageant.

Once the search was launched, local residents and longtime Pageant supporters Janet Lester and Ian Dickieson reached out to let us know about their property right in the heart of New Glasgow. The site is a parcel of former farmland, dotted with apple trees, with lovely hills and views of New Glasgow. A small stream runs through it, and there are so many birds!

The land has natural slopes that roll down toward the stream, with layers of trees and foliage rising up behind it offering exciting possibilities for performance and backstage areas. The land felt right the moment we stepped onto it. It sits behind New Glasgow Christian Church and across the road from where the Pageant has been performed since 2016.

Janet and Ian are pleased that River Clyde Arts can remain in New Glasgow: "We have loved watching the Pageant bring so much activity to New Glasgow over the past decade, and we are happy to provide a long-term home that ensures River Clyde Arts can continue to contribute to the vibrancy of our village for the decade ahead."

Site improvement work is underway on the land to prepare for this summer’s River Clyde Pageant, which runs July 23-26 and July 30-August 2. Improvements are focused on accessibility for participants and audiences visiting the site, and on environmental conservation work undertaken in partnership with the Hunter Clyde Watershed Group. Both efforts are multi-phase projects, unfolding this summer and in the years to come.

Accessibility improvements, which include audience seating & gathering spaces, a trail, wayfinding signage, and an accessible outhouse for on-site work are being supported by the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program, the Cavendish Destination Management Fund, Cymbria Lions Club, and Twin Pines Tree Service.

Come Celebrate with Us

The public will play a role in imagining the possibilities for this new space. We're inviting the whole community to a Welcome Picnic on Saturday, June 27, from 2–6pm on the new site. Come see the land, take part in an ecology walk, observational sketching, creative movement, and hula hooping, and connect with friends and neighbours. The picnic is free to attend — pre-registration is encouraged, light refreshments will be provided, and you're welcome to bring food to contribute to the picnic.

The 2026 River Clyde Pageant runs July 23–26 and July 30–August 2. Tickets go on sale June 24 at 10am and June 25 at 7pm. Volunteers are especially needed to help bring the production to life.

Gifts here go toward our long-term home and infrastructure, not day-to-day operations. To support our year-round programs instead, donate to River Clyde Pageant operations here.
