Sharing the Field Workshops

October 5 & 6, 2024

The River Clyde Pageant’s workshops are offered to the public free of charge. Free arts programming is important to us - it’s a way to give back to the community that helps build the Pageant each summer. Spaces are limited in these workshops, and they fill up quickly and usually have waitlists. With that in mind, we ask that you consider the following:

  1. If you register for a workshop, make the commitment to attend - put the dates in your calendar and show up.

  2. If you sign up and realize you can no longer attend, email us to withdraw your registration so someone on the waitlist can participate.

  3. Please consider a donation to River Clyde Arts to assist with the administration and material costs of these workshops. Your contributions help us ensure we can continue to offer high-quality, accessible arts programming to the community.

Come dip your toe in the exciting world of birding! Join forest conservation specialist Julie-Lynn Zahavich on a walk through Island Honey Wine Company’s property to learn birding basics.

The walk will make its way to Rackham’s Pond, where Julie-Lynn will talk about the history of the pond and the ecology of the area. Birding basic topics will be covered, including gear, bird guides and helpful apps. The autumn season provides an opportunity to talk about migration and hopefully the group will be graced with fall warblers or migrating ducks or shorebirds on the pond. Topics of climate change as it relates to migration, storms and habitat change and how birds are adapting will be discussed.

Julie-Lynn has worked and volunteered with many environmental non-profit groups in PEI, including Island Nature Trust, the PEI Invasive Species Council, and Nature PEI. She currently works as a forest conservation specialist with the PEI Forests, Fish and Wildlife Division. Julie-Lynn is excited to share her passion with soon-to-be birders and can’t wait to take you on this walk!
